PHARMACY DE CECCO

Pharmacy De Cecco is an excellent example of how automation can be enhanced in the eyes of the customer through careful choices of materials and layout: since the short side of the robot, placed in front of a window, has been replaced by a glass, passers-by can admire the mechanical gripper at work from the street, highlighted by green lighting.

The automated warehouse, with an elegant glossy black coating, is located behind the counter.

THE PHARMACIST’S FEEDBACK

Doctor De Cecco, why did automate your pharmacy?

First of all, for having a better management of references. Nowadays in pharmacies you have to manage an incredibly high quantity of products and sometimes it happens to not be able to find a certain package in the numerous drawers or to take a very long time for just searching it, which obviously has negative consequences on the quality of the service.

We were also very interested on the fact that the robot would have allowed us to manage expiring dates automatically, thus freeing us from an unrewarding but very important task.

What led you to decide to rely on Pharmathek for the automation of your pharmacy?

We compare the automated warehouses of the main suppliers on the market and the Pharmathek solution was among the best. But besides the robot itself, we also evaluated other factors.

The first was of an economic nature: Pharmathek assistance is economically more advantageous than other suppliers and this is certainly not an aspect to be neglected.

Then we evaluated the human factor: we got on very well with the area consultant, who convinced us both of the robot quality and of the seriousness of the company.

What has changed since the robot was installed?

The robot allows better management of spaces, references and expiring dates. In particular, Pharmathek assistance allows us with a 100% automatic reading of expiring dates. In fact, it may happen that the robot cannot read some expiring dates. In this case, the robot sends to the assistance the photos of the references for which it was unable to automatically read the deadline. The operator will analyse the photos, read the date and manually enter it in the robot database. This update therefore takes place without any intervention by the pharmacist.

Why did you decided to aesthetically customize your robot?

We decided to opt for a black robot for an aesthetic integration with the furniture.

Then, following the advice of the consultant, we decided to show the inside of the robot from the streets: passers-by can now see the mechanical gripper from the street as it pick up and deliver the references to the counter. A choice that proved to be very appreciated by costumers.
